they told me not to come... Guatemala City, with more than three million inhabitants is the largest city in Central America.
The city looks ugly at the first site, but if you patiente enough, the city will welcome you in a big way
it is divided in zonas (zones), the safest one is the zona 10,called zona viva. |
| | Arriving to Guatemala Aurora airport serves the country, it is a small building but just minutes away of the city. Buses and taxis are just across the street in front of the main entrance. bus 83 will take you for only Q1 to downtown. 8Q=1USD Get some info at the tourist kiosk, I could find any in spanish... there is an airport tax of 30USD + 5USD of dont know what...it should be in the tourist trap section! . |
| | View of Cathedral from National Palace of Culture Guatemala is a country that faced a civil war during 36 years...and finally has found peace and development on tourism... i didnt feel safe walking here but maybe because i was alone and the park were crowded. the historic center is located at zone 1. |
