Don't miss Brugges. Take time away from Brussels and spend it here. Brugges may be the best tourist destination in all of Belgium.
It's a zippy one hour train ride from Brussels. There are many things to see and do, and all withing walkable distance from each other.
If you are just in for the day, take a bus from the train station to the Market Square, then walk back hitting all the sights as you go. Most busses go to the Market Square. Just ask the driver to be certain. |
| | Walk About Take your time in Brugges. Art exhibits are often nestled into small corners. Folks are very friendly and often eager to practice their English. Greet locals in French or Flemish (to be respectful) then ask if they speak English.
Don't forget to buy some Frittes with mayonaise from a streetside vendor. Sit in the shade near a canal or plaze and watch the people go by.
Enjoy a beer - there are dozens to try. Most American's enjoy a Pilzner, but I prefer something more bitter. Mussels are a good choice too. Brugges is just a few miles from the ocean. |
