I can't say enough good things about Bacharach. It is the best village on the Rhein. Parts of the medeival wall and towers are still standing. The buildings and narrow lanes all give the visitor a sense of being transported back in time to the 15th century. And, it's the historic heart of Rhein wine. |
| | Charming There isn't a whole lot to do in Bacharach other than walk the streets, climb the hillside, explore the little shops, and enjoy the food and wine. But that's what I like about it. It's calm. It isn't overrun with tourists. The people are friendly.
The old castle is now a hostel. The little Lutheran church is simple but pretty inside. Their are ruins to explore and viewpoints to climb. It's just a tremendously relaxing place to experience a small historic town. |
