I was in Key West just several hours .It was our first Disney Magic Cruise Ship port of call. I liked the view from the ship when we were approaching the islands-very exotic! Key West is perched at the end of the Florida Keys, approximately 150 miles South of Miami and 90miles from Cuba. It is the capital of the mythical conch republic. Its population is 24768 people. Key West is a mesh of festive and artistic individuals living amidst a fairy tale land of colorful gingerbread style houses, eclectic shops, museums. We walked down Duval Street, and since my child was tired and hungry, we went into one of the many restaurants. Guess, who came right after us? The pirate’s crew was hungry too, so we happened to have lunch almost at the same time and at the same place. We had a lovely picture taking time and enjoyed their friendly attitude. Visited frequently by legends such as Jimmy Buffett, Ernest Hemingway and Harry Truman, Key West stimulates the minds and warms the heart of everyone who visits.

If you interested in some history, you probably know, that the area first European settlers were the Spanish (1521) , who, upon finding Indian Burial sites named the place Cayo Hueso (kah-yo—way-so) or Bone’s Island. A little bit more of dates will be:

1821 John Simonton bought Kew West for 2000$ .
1860 KW became known as the wealthiest town in America( cigar factories, sales of sea sponges)
1912 Henry Flagler’s Overseas Railway is completed.
