We spent 3 weeks in Alushta and wished we had stayed more. My friend calls this place “My Alusha”, it’s a very nice place with a rich history, that takes back to tribes of tavr. Archeologists found ruins of tavr settlement with constructions for defense and burial place with a stone boxes. In VI century this part of Crimea belonged to Byzantine Empire. The fortress “Alushton” was first mentioned in treatise “About buildings” by ancient historian Prokopiy Caesars’ (Kesarskiy) ,that was build by order of Justinian in place of old one that needed repairing. Today you can see only one tower remained. Later on, people from Genua (Italy) who had conquered the land used the same fortress and called it “Alusta”. In 1475 the fortress fall to Turkish Army and was destroyed ,moreover the city turned into a small village. In XVIII century Russia started the war for Crimea possession. In April 1777 legendary general Suvorov received the order to “..observe mountains of Bahchisaray and upper part of the Salgir river, take control of most important paths in the mountains and set the post on the sea shore of Alushta”. Thanks to this actions none of Turkish landing could take the area under their control and Russians won. Then the area was considered as a part of Russian region and Alushta was a center of it. Russians started to develop its agriculture: lay out parks, vineries and tobacco plantations. After the building of rail road that connected South with Simferopol a lot of people started to come here on vacations. “ Professors’ corner” appeared soon in Alushta as a summer cottages area of scientists like Golovkinskiy, Beketov, Golubev, D.Tikhomirov and another ones.
I happened to visit Fall concert in a school -gymnasium and their craft exhibition. I was impressed how talented the kids are: they sing, they dance ball dances ,they play on a stage, recite the poems ,play musical instruments!!! I’m posting a picture of their art and craft projects for everyone to watch and enjoy! They are awesome!!!
Alushta is not only vinery, tasty vine, nice weather but also beaches if you like them!
