| Me and the Day of the Iguana. |
I was invited to come to resort outside Puerta Vallarta in the fall of 1998 by a housemate from college, who is now a hardworking alfalfa farmer with her husband at Fort Rock, Oregon. They have a time share in a place called Paradise Village, and unlike most people with time shares they actually vacation there every year, sometimes with their twins (now age 14), sometimes with friends. They enjoy the familiarity, the amenities and the relaxed time they have there. There were restaurants, a fiesta, entertainment, tequila volleyball, a great beach, etc, etc. Not exactly authentic, but fun. |
| We had lunch and enjoyed the day at Punta De Mita. |
| | Punta De Mita My friends, who had done considerable exploring of the surrounding area on past trips, only left the resort once, when we took a bus to the little town of Punta De Mita only ten or so miles further on the beach. We paid a local for a memorable boat ride back after lunch to our resort. I also took a tour bus around Puerta Vallarta area, including into the jungle a ways for a delicious seafood lunch under a thatched roofed place; and a bus by myself to explore the city one day. It was a wonderful time, expecially sharing time with friends I see seldom and experiencing just a bit of the touristy part of Mexico. |

Very brave of you to venture out of the safe 'tourist world' too, it is not easy to do when you do not have much experience with such things! |
