Bellagio: Bellagio - bring your wallet

The Bellagio sits back from the Strip in understated elegance. Everything about it is awesome and the attention to detail is excellent. Go for the shops, the casino, the hotel rooms and the gardens, but bring your wallet - this place is expensive to stay, gamble and eat. Make sure to visit the gardens behind the main hotel lobby. They change regularly and add a breath of freshness to the stale Strip atmosphere of neon and crowds.

I can't say enough about it - just drive down and see it. Unfortunately the tour isn't what it used to be. When I first went about 6-7 years ago, the tour was pretty decent allowing you to walk into the deep underground tunnels and view control rooms, etc. Now the 'cheap' tour consists of a video, a ride down to see the turbines and that's about it. You can pay a lot more money and take the Discover Tour if you're dying to see more. This is no fault of the Dam - thanks to 9-11, the security is much tighter. Check out the interesting sights outside and on top of the dam - and enjoy the warm sun and clear desert sky.

I was totally amazed at the detail of this place and the fact that no expense was spared. From the painted ceilings to the canals, visit this casino/hotel just to walk around and view the shops. I did not take the Gondola ride, but I heard it was expensive and not worth it. Other than that there was a good selection of shops and restaurants. The only thing that was annoying was the determined workers there who insist visitors buying show tickets. If you go early in the day like I did, they will accost your every move.

Things To Do: Star Trek Exhibit - Hilton Las Vegas

If you are a fan of the whole Star Trek experience, you need to check out the exhibit at the Las Vegas Hilton. There are two attractions or 'rides'. I would not recommend the Klingon Encounter if you are prone to motion sickness (like I am). However, the Borg 4-D is very good. There is a complete timeline of all the Star Trek series (original series, TNG, Voyager, Deep Space Nine) that goes throughout the little museum they have there. All episodes are represented chronologically. There is also 'Quark's', a restaurant and of course a gift shop. The casino itself is also futuristically themed. Admission for both attractions (you can ride them as many times as you want) is about $35/person.

jennwill99 Wed Jul 25, 2007 21:55 UTC Great picture! I have never stayed on that side of the hotel and it appears that Bellagio makes up for the lack of fountain view with a nice bathroom and a sunset! |
