I never come to this city to gamble, I've been here twice for weddings and once for a conference. It's a huge, strange city - spreading unchecked into the desert and surrounding foothills. The Strip never closes and there seems to be an endless stream of new settlers to this valley in the middle of nowhere. Only in Las Vegas can you visit ancient Rome, Venice, the Far East, Paris, Italy, New York, Egypt and the Emerald City in one day. The entire Strip experience revolves around money and greed. Each hotel/casino tries to outdo each other - and why not? as long as people drop their savings into slot machines and tables, the owners will have the money to do it. If you go, don't waste your time in the casinos - check out the shopping and the sites outside the Strip. Drive out to Summerlin and play golf or drive up Mt. Charleston and have lunch at the funky little lodge at the top. |

| | There are other things to do in this area besides gambling. The Hoover Dam is a must see. It's an awesome sight as it spans two states and holds back the Colorado River. |
Another quick drive is the Red Rock Canyon just out of reach of the western city sprawl. Great place for hiking, climbing or just a scenic drive. | | |

jennwill99 Wed Jul 25, 2007 22:55 UTC Great picture! I have never stayed on that side of the hotel and it appears that Bellagio makes up for the lack of fountain view with a nice bathroom and a sunset! |
