Alien Getaway | Even the local Walmart gets into it |
Roswell is most famous for the supposed alien crash-landing in 1947, but it also wants to be taken a little more seriously. I spent a day there and found that it's the Dairy Capital of Southeastern New Mexico. The town got its start as cowboys drove cattle west to Las Cruces in the 1800's. Roswell was a crossroads town in the old west.
Take some time to explore the downtown with its Alien Zone area and drive to the little park along the Spring River in the early evening to get away from the heat. |
