Historic And Cultured | Prinsengracht near Ann Franks House |
One of the first things you will notice about Amsterdam is the old warehouses now converted into house. I would love to own one off these houses some are about 4-5 stories high.
Some off the old buildings are magnificent one of these is the Rijksmuseum very impressive at the moment there is a lot off work being done to this building.
Leidseplein is the area were there is a lot off night life restaurants bars cinema theatres when you walk down the narrow streets there is a maze off restaurants.
We went on a boat trip around the canals this is well worth it there is a lot to see.
Also to me Amsterdam is a shoppers paradise from Leidsestraat onto Kalverstraats narrow street right up to Damn Square plus Rokin also.
Another street is a must that is P C Hoofstraat this is were a lot of the designer shops from all around the world are Chanel Gucci D&G plus a lot more, there are a few upmarket cafes also.
There are art galleries museums also a maritime museum so there is a lot to do all depends on your taste I liked to stop for a beer or coffee also very good.
We stayed near Vondel park this was a good place to stay as most places were in walking distance. |
| For the rich and the dreamers |
| | P C Hoofstraat This street is worth a visit but if you intend to shop you will need a lot of money?. But nice to stroll around also there a few up market cafes in this street. |
| | Max Euweplien This is a small square of Leidseplien next to the casino.
The thing that caught my attention is these people playing chess with the large chess pieces. It did not mater about the weather every time we passes there was always someone play exept in the evening.
This a modern square with the Hard Rock Cafe and Arran the Irish bar also plus a few shops. |
