Family History | Robert Luptons first shop 106 Friarergate c1850 |
I was born in Preston and still a Prestonian only living in Fulwood, I have been interested in family history for a few years. One of my interest is the historic Preston.. My grandmother Mary Agnes Lupton born 1895 Preston died 1974 she was the daughter of Rober Lupton son of a tailor from the mid 1800s Robert Luptons father also Robert Lupton had four tailors shops in Friargate. these buildings are still there today. Lawrence Lupton born in Chester maried Mary Johnson 1810 at St Johns Parish Church. He is the father of the first Robert Lupton he had a grocery shop in Vauxhall Road between about 1841 to 1851 |
| Interior of the Miller Arcade. |
| | Victorian Preston I have taken some photos of the Victorian Architecture in which I am interested in. One off the finest buildings to me is the Miller Arcade. Miller was a dentist who built the arcade late 1800s. The cellar of the arcade may have been used to store meat in WW2. It is when you are inside you see owe great this building is and still in use today. |
| Another fine example of Victorian Architecture |
| | Old Guild Hall Another great building is the Old Guild Hall in Guild Hall Street. In the later years it was a Conservative Club. It was renavated in recent years and now houses some up market bars |
