Warsaw for the uninitiated Warsaw is an upwardly mobile city. Evident by much new construction, the city is generally well maintained, but there are rough spots. Many old, soviet-era buildings are being refurbished or razed for new construction. Warsaw has a few nice museums and art galleries. The National Museum is not fancy but has many interesting local works. Many statues in, and the Old City (Stare Miasto) is very nicely refurbished and has much to see and do there. It is easy to get around and there are many good restaurants in the Old and New Towns. (see my reviews of a few!) Many nice parks in the city, and the zoo is not fancy but is a nice way to spend an afternoon walking around and a larger city park is adjacent to it. Not much bad I can say about Warsaw. There are beggars and many street people. Be careful of your wallet! There are pickpockets! What amazed me is the maze of underground shops between the main train station and the metro station. Virtually everything is for sale and there are many food shops and bars in this warren. Give it a look! |
