Honeymoon on the Caribbean

We spent our honeymoon, with about 35 of my wife´s closest friends and family at Hotel La Rumba on Bocas del Toro.
It is not the easiest place to get to, one has to fly there from Panama City´s Gelabert (Albrook) Airport on a turbo prop or take a bone-jarring 10-hour bus ride. But it is worth the trip! Such a beautiful place, I have never seen. It is a poor area, but it is still very lovely and well-kept. After we took the bus, we had to take motor launches to the town of Bocas itself. Then hire taxis to the hotel. Once there, we had to hire a water taxi to go visit Playa Red Frog. These are fairly cheap, about $2 per person, per trip. And they are covered, as you can see from the attached photos, so you don´t have to sit in the sun on the boat.
All I can say is, if you have an opportunity to visit Bocas, do it! It may be a pain to get there, but it is worth the trip to see such a beautiful area and swim in the warm Caribbean!

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:Gorgeous Scenery, largely unspoiled
  • Cons:Difficult to get to, not comfy for those used to posh resorts.
  • In a nutshell:Worth the trip for the experience!
