We lived in Las Tablas the first four months I lived in Panama - April thru July, 2007. We moved to Panama City, afrer that, but after 14 months there and 11 in Cambutal, we have returned to Las Tablas to run an office here for Resort Management, to work with govt agencies on planned expansion at Los Buzos Resort, and to give info to prospective investors on the resort and provide general info on what to do and where to go on the Azuero Peninsula, in general. We are happy to be back in "civilization"! Near friends and my wife's family.
I may not be a bonafide world traveler, but we all got something to share, so here is what I most humbly have to offer. I hope it helps you either decide to go where I have gone or to check out a specific locale or get some info that may be of some use to you. Your comments or suggestions are most welcome, my fellow VTers! Please ask me questions, I check in fairly often, so I should answer you quickly. If I made a mistake and you tell me about it, I will most cheerfully repair it forthwith! Thanks for sharing and happy trails to you!!! |

| | Los Buzos Resort My wife and I got a very fortunate break and landed jobs at the Los Buzos Resort here in Cambutal, Panamá. It is very rural, but the owner, our boss has made every effort to make it as comfortable and ascetically pleasing as possible for the guests. Let me know if you would like to visit us here! We worked at Los Buzos Resort from Nov 21, 2008 to Oct 9, 2009. We still work for the owner of the resort but at an office we opened in Las Tablas to be more effective and efficient at interfacing with government agencies we need to deal with to help with our planned expansions and to expedite procuring materials and services for the property. We miss Los Buzos as it is in a very unique setting, one of the most beautiful places on earth! But, it is very remote and unless one is really into surfing, fishing or other water sports (which I am not), there isn't much else to do around there. The good things are; the road is paved to the resort, and there is electric service. No phone or cell coverage, yet. But the resort has a satellite phone for emergencies and satellite internet service. |
| Detroit Skyline from Belle Isle, NOT Canada, Chet! |
| | The Straight, Land of Big Waters, USA I said good-bye to Detroit, without much remorse. I wish it well, it has a lot to overcome, will it ever? I loved the area, with it's beautiful scenery and diversity of cultures and things to do, but I am afraid the economy may be in turmoil for many years to come and moving to Panama, which seems poised to have an economic explosion, and move up in the economic world, seems like a good choice to get into and ride the tide upward! So, "adieu" D'troit, y "¡hola!" Las Tablas!!
Detroit comes from the French word; "The Straight" or "d'troit" Michigan comes from the Chippewa words; "Big Waters" or "Michi-gami". |
| | Fulda-am-Main, Land Hessen, Deutschland Please see my travelogue on Fulda, the home town of my ancestors. Fulda has many points of interesting architecture. |
| Part of Roman-built city wall with historic plaque |
| | Regensburg-an-der-Donau, Land Bayern, Deutschland Please see my page on Regensburg, has some tidbits you probably won't find anywhere else on VT! (Get your mind out of the gutter!) ;-)) |
| | Nuernberg-am-Pegnitz, Land Bayern, Deutschland Please see my Nuernberg Page, I have some interesting pictures of sculpture there. |
| | Phoenix, Home Three I am building new pages on my time I spent in Phoenix from 1987-99. My son lives in Arizona, so I will try to make these as up-to-date as possible. |
| | What's On or In YOUR Fridge? To be an official member of Dr. D's fridge club, you have to have your fridge posted on your home or travel pages. Since I made the faux pas of not keeping mine included, I was deleted! Shudder! So to improve my self-esteem and get back on the doc's good side, I am returning my fridge here for all to see and to make her much sought-after list of members of the fridge club. |
