SCOTLAND'S MIST COVERED MOUNTAINS

REST AND BE THANKFUL

Rest and Be Thankful - and it's not even raining!
Rest and Be Thankful is located in Argyllshire between Loch Long and Loch Fyne. It rises to 262 m (860 feet). Long ago, cattle were driven through this valley to the lowland markets. However, following the Jacobite Rebellion of 1745-46 a couple of British generals built roads and bridges through it.

At the top of the road there is a plateau where weary travellers would rest - and of course, be thankful - as the remainder of their trek would be downhill. Thus, it was named "Rest and Be Thankful."

It was a most breath taking place and the mist that hung on the mountains was as soft as a butterfly’s kiss…there’s no need to be afraid of the rain and mist in Scotland – dress warmly in water proof clothing and enjoy.
