Day Trip From Edinburgh | The Ferry in Brodick Port & me being cool |
I was on my way to Wales from Edinburgh when I stopped into a pub for some lunch and a drink. An old fisherman asked where I was going and I told him - Wales. "You don't want to go there! You want to take the Ferry and go to the Isle of Arran!" And so I did!
The Isle of Arran is rich in Scottish history and I could see why it's known as Scotland in Miniature. Arran is one of the most southerly Scottish Islands and it has mountains and lochs, rolling hills and meadows - completely surrounded by coastline!
I spent most of my time in Brodick a little village on the East side of Arran. Make a point of visiting James's Chocolate shop, Arran Brewery and Brodick Castle. Also, if you're curious about Standing Stones or are a fan of Dianna Gabeldon's Scottish historical romance books you must see Machrie Moor Standing Stones. |

| Pros: | "* Day trip from Edinburgh *Small enough to see in a day * Large enough to spend a weekend and not run out of things to do." | | Cons: | "You must rent a car when you get there - unless you don't mind depending on one of the many tour busses available." | | In A Nutshell: | "Lovely Island - wonderful people - excellent scenery" |
