Dubai, hell on earth

by bahaiano - last update: Dec 7, 2004

hottest place on earth

imagine, when i arrived in dubai around 2 o clock nightime, it was still 35 degrees outside... well i do really like heat, but when i got up the other morning and walked outside my climatised hotel, it was like a punch in the face - 46 degrees, unbelivable! the first thing i bought in dubai was one of these hankerchiefs everybody had for cleaning yourself of your sweat. it was so hot I sweated everywhere. i sweated on places i didnt know befor. then i went to the public beach. got into the water. themperature 35 degrees again. the showers at the beach even warmer. it was amazing. i heard of this luxury hotels (i wasent living in) they have cooled their pools down to 28 degrees what must be so what refreshing!

well what is there to do in dubai? mainly shopping. a advert said: "stop dreaming, start shopping" best done in the climatised malls you find in an incredible amount everywhere. you also can visit the new built old-town, the king al zayed road or the museum.

al zayed road

incredible. the taxidriver who drove me there told me that he was playing footbal on this area where 15 years ago was absulutly nothing but sand. now look where your petrol money has gone!

Cons:"not much to see there, the desrt trip was a disapointment to me"
In A Nutshell:"do a stopover there or check in one of the 5* for a week"

Greetings from the Dubai desert :-) Some nice info here... sorry to see that you were here at the worst time of the year! Also, we do have a lot of nightlife, even some good clubs WITHOUT hookers... haha! Have a great day / Jess
