mnt. bromo, my first vulcano ever, and i think a very nice one to start with.

if you stay at the crater-rim, you will have to get up at 4 o clock in the morning. then you ll be brought up to a viewpoint on a neighbour mountain, where you stay and freeze until the sunlight reveales the teriffic sight to mnt. bromo and his friends. veeeeery nice! and also impressing

loneliness?

you are not alone up there when the sun comes up. also when you chose to go up by foot and not with the jeep. its quite full of people and it even wasnt high-season when I was there. but its woth to go up to this viewpoint anyway. what i would you advise to do is to wait untill the tourists have gone down to the smoking crater with their jeeps and then walk down by foot. you ll walk on a good path (ASK the locals where it is, you ll miss it otherwise) for about 2 hours in a nice other world. you will wander through about 5 stagest of landscape. from forest to french pyrenes to vegetable-farms into the crater where you ll find desert and towards the crater it looks like the surface of the moon. amazing!
best thing is, that when you arrive at the crater, all the other tourists already left and you can join the smoking hole on your own in a inspiring tranquilidade!
