SF: Suitably fabulous

Bush's worst nightmare, and wonderfully so...

Heading into the city on the Bay Bridge
The jewel of the west coast, San Francisco is somewhat of an US enigma and feels infinitely more European than American. Be it the refreshingly liberal locals or the wonderfully unpredictable climate this really should be your first port of call if you're thinking about heading to the western US.

Moi, biased?

Some would say I'm biased because I dated a girl from the Bay Area who I met travelling, but I was in love with the area before I crossed paths with one of the most inspiring women I've ever met. To spend time with her showing me around all her local haunts, counts as one of the most enjoyable times of my life.

I miss them both.
Tens of thousands on the street following SF Pride

Come as you are

My one big tip would be simply to not concentrate too much on a tick-list of sights like some cities call for. Instead head for some of the neighbourhoods, just wander and soak the place in. There's all manner of great little cafes, restaurants and shops just waiting to be discovered. If you don't feel any urge to live in the Bay Area before you leave... Then frankly I'd be stunned!

Pros:"Architecture, liberal locals, cosmopolitan atmosphere, two world-class bridges"
Cons:"Numbers of street bums"
In A Nutshell:"Like most of the world's great cities, you'll discover a new layer to it every time you return..."

Why leave a political opinion on a travelogue site? Log onto a political opinion site and leave this kind of stuff

I always thought it was 'San Jo-quin', and the actor was "Jo-quin" Pheonix.

re: your album here. THAT was a great book now wasn't it? (House of Sand & Fog) You know though, I had no desire to reside in San Fran after visiting. I'm a weirdo, yeah? ;-)
