Harbin is the capital of Heilongjiang Sheng (province) in the far north of China. It is about 250km from Changchun, where we currently live.
Our first reason for this short weekend trip was the ice & snow festivals, visited by lots of tourists, with displays of impressive and beautiful art works made of snow and ice...
Besides the festival, the city has something of interesting as well. It has strong influence of Russian colonization, and being near to Russia also developed over the time strong bonds to its neighbours.
More to come soon... keep online!
- Pros:Ice & snow festival in a nice city...
- Cons:Incredible cold!
- In a nutshell:Not only ice, cold & snow, but a city worth to be visited if you are around.

Great information and photos of Harbin, thanks for sharing! Also, happy belated birthday to you and enjoy your travels :)
'Cool' page!
Terrific travelogues! Enjoyed reading about Harbin and the ice sculptures and snow carving. Some helpful tips about weather and ice in the streets. Brilliant photographs, too.
Stunning pictures! I hope to go there during winter one day. Did you see the frozen Amur (Black dragon) river?
Hope I'll see that with my own eyes one day! Fantastic page!
Nice job!
