Aztecs & Pyramids | Me and the monstruous Sun Pyramid. |
When visiting Mexico, you must visit Teotihuacán. Located near Mexico City, it is a must-see of Human History and Architecture.
I remember quite well the sensation of seeing such collossal pyramids and extremely large places: simply b-r-e-a-t-h-t-a-k-i-n-g!
This planned city build around the time of Christ was the religious centre in the Mexican highlands. It developed over time to what was believed to be the sixth largest city in the world on the 4th century. Its sudden fall on the seventh century as well as the ethnic groups who inhabited it are still a mystery.
If you have the luck of being there in such a nice day, you saved your day! |

geokid Fri Oct 3, 2008 16:53 UTC First this site was not built by Aztecs. Aztec did know this place, they thought it was built by Gods. It is possible to find original artifacts, you will have to be experienced and ask for originals. Happy travels, geokid | agapotravel Sat Mar 17, 2007 23:49 UTC I love your pictures...they are stunning!! How long did it take you to climb to the top of the Sun Pyramid? :-) | voyager37 Tue Jul 18, 2006 06:53 UTC nice photos. We used to visit there every year as kids, and I remember all those steps. good explanation on the history. | deecat Sat Jul 2, 2005 19:11 UTC Good food warning and tourist trap warning. The Sun Pyramid looks awesome. The Moon Pyramid, Ave. of the Dead, and Ceudadela are seem so exotic. Great work and fine photos to accompany your astutue narrative. |
