I call the Detroit neighborhood my Home !!!. Though I live about 35 minutes northwest of Detroit and there is not really much here for travelers, this is a place that I love dear to my heart. My favorite team is the Detroit Red Wings. I have lived here for quite a while and I have been thinking of moving to a much more tropical location like Florida but my heart just keeps refusing to accept the change and make a decision to move. And it goes without saying that Detroit has some of the friendliest people on this planet contrary to what they are being stereotyped as. Well, all said and done, home is where you are most comfortable, peaceful and happy and the Detroit neighborhood is MY home !!! |
The Motor City as we call it is also a very big city for sports fans. Detroit is one of the very few cities in the United States that boasts a team in all the 4 major professional leagues. The Detroit Red Wings represent the city in the National Hockey League, the Detroit Lions in the National Football League, the Detroit Pistons in the National Basketball Association and the Detroit (Basement) Tigers in the Major League Baseball. Ann Arbor, near Detroit, boasts one of the largest stadiums in the country with a capacity of more than 110,000. For any game that involves the University of Michigan and Ohio State University, the stadium gets sold out in no time as there is a sea of humanity on game day. This rivalry is considered one of the greatest rivalry in the United States sports arena. |

yooperprof Sat Sep 18, 2004 04:42 UTC I hope you don't think I'm rude, but I think I should point out that there's no bridge to Mackinac Island - the Straits of Mackinac Bridge links the lower peninsula with the upper peninsula (da U.P.) |
