To me Glacier NP is one of the ultimate Rocky Mountain Parks. The park lies in the north of Montana on the border with Canada. Actually it is one park together with Waterton Lakes National Park in Canada. However, you have to exit the park to cross the border, since there is no through road connecting the two parks. The main road is called the Going-to-the-Sun road and enters the park in the west at the village of West Glacier and exits the park in the east at St. Mary. |

| | When we arrived at Glacier, the weather was bad and got even worse, once we arrived at Logan Pass, kind of the centre of the park and also the location of a visitor centre and point of departure for several trails.
However after lots of rain, a few kilometres east of Logan Pass the sky opened up and the sun started to shine again. So we decided to turn around and spend some more time at Logan Pass, but now with sun. It was like a different world! |
| | What is so great about Glacier is that it is a rather compact park. There are lots of things to see and do, very close to eachother. Awesome viewpoints and short trails can be found within miles of eachother. I did not add tips to this page. The park itself is just one, but a great one, tip. I did add some extra pictures in the Travelogue section. Pay attention to the fact that there is also a National Park named Glacier in Canada (even rather close by in British Columbia), so don't mix them up. For the official site of the park, click here. |
