The main reason to go to Cordoba is of course the Mezquita. The Mezquita (especially the inside) is something you simply must have seen. |
|  | It is an enormous mosque dating from the moorish time in Spain, with in the middle a cathedral built by the catholics. The cathedral was a kind of statement of Christianity conquering the Moors.
The Mezquita of Cordoba is one of the largest moorish buildings in the world. It dates from a period when Cordoba was, after Bagdad and Cairo, the third most important city of the moorish empire. |

And you should definitely visit the gardens of the Alcazar in Cordoba. Especially at the end of the afternoon, they are really an oasis in the busy streets of Cordoba. |
