| | The word sherry is derived from Jerez. Jerez de la Frontera is the absolute center of the world when it comes to sherry.
The city is filled with sherry bodegas, of which many offer guided tours on their premises. Some famous names are Sandeman, Osborne, Harveys and Gonzalez Byass (owner of the famous Tio Pepe brand). You could easily say that everyhing in the entire city of Jerez is related to sherry. Even if drinking sherry is not your thing, this place is definitely worth a visit. And I must admit that eating tapas accompanied by a glass of sherry in Jerez really gives you that Andalusia feeling you are looking for.
Also pay attention to the Osborne billboards that you find by the roadside in this area. (the famous black bull) See also one of my tips. |
