Kunming is a very pleasant city with good climate. Even though it has a few million inhabitants, it can be explored on foot, also because of the moderate temperatures. We knew that tourism is increasing in Yunnan, therefore we were quite happy to see that there were only very few western tourists; in fact, we didn`t see any the first two days. Maybe this was the reason that people kept staring at us, pointing and even sometimes laughing (can`t imagine why!), but we got used to it after one or two days. People in general were very friendly and helpful, even though English was rarely spoken. In short: Kunming was a nice start for our first trip to "real" China!
