Kyoto is the place I was looking forward to visit the most. More than 1800 temples, hundreds of shrines, historical buildings and streets, famous gardens and not to forget maiko and geiko in Gion - what a wonderful combination! This can only be topped by the cherry blossom - we had it all! One could stay weeks or months in this city and would never have seen all there is to see. It's best to choose only a few of the sights and take enough time for each place, otherwise the whole trip will end in a wild "temple-hopping", which will take too much energy and leads to nothing but blisters and confused memories. |
