As KL's most architecturally rich area, this expansive square was once a colonial cricket field, the site of Malaysia's Independence ceremonies in 1957 - and now home to the tallest flagpole in Asia. On one side of the square is KL's Justice Hall, housed in the Sultan Abdul Samad building. With its clock tower and Islamic influences, the High Court blends well with neighboring buildings. On the opposite of the square is the mock-Tudor Royal Selangor Club, a social centre for KL's high society in the tin-rush days of the 1890's. This is not only an interesting historic site, but also one of the most beautiful places in KL, away from the traffic you can relax and enjoy the views of the magnificient buildings around.

Bird Park: Taman burung - KL Bird Park

The Taman burung is an outdoor aviary housing tropical birds, including the blue-tailed bee-eater and striking Malaysian hornbill. Get face to beak while walking through large cages where the birds roam free! It's important to make sure you get an early start. For one thing, the bird-life is more active in the morning, and later in the day the heat will become unbearable - even to seasoned tropical dwellers. Drinks and ice creams are available at a kiosk within the park and at the shop by the entrance. There are usually taxis lurking outside the entrance gate as well Admission RM 3 Open 9am - 5 pm

Built in 1965, this modern white-marble building is a stark contrast to the Masjik Jamek across the river. The upper deck houses the main prayer hall and a reflecting pool. The Grand Hall is surrounded by deep verandahs which are screened off by white grilles of traditional Islamic designs. The floor of the Grand Hall is carpeted and the remaining area is finished in terrazzo. The Grand Hall is sheltered by a folded-plate roof in the shape of a 'semi opened umbrella' with 18 pleats radiating from the centre.

Built in the late nineteenth century, this is one of the most ornate and elaborate Hindu temples in the country. The detailed decorative scheme for the temple incorporates intricate carvings, gold embellishments, hand-painted motifs and exquisite tiles from Italy and Spain. The Sri Mahamariaman Temple is the departure point for the annual Thaipusam Festival pilgrimage to the Batu Caves, and the temple houses a giant chariot that is used each year to transport a deity in the procession.

Built by the British architect A.B. Hubbock in 1910, this magnificent station is a contrast of domes, minares, and archways that house everything from a tourist office to a hostel. The ground floor of the station housed a linear set of halls with a deep continuous covered loggia in front to provide shade and shelter. The platforms were out behind. In 1967, a new 4 storey extension was built north of the station to accommodate the need for additional office space.

The Petronas Towers are designed to impress and encapsulate Malaysia’s emergence as South East Asia’s commercial and cultural centre. Celebrated as the tallest towers in the world until the recent completion of Taipei 101 in Taiwan, the buildings stand at a height of 1,483ft (452m) and are joined by a skybridge extending 192ft (58m) across. Traditional geometric principles of Islamic architecture have been followed using modern technology, with an inspiring result. The Petronas towers are used as office complexes that form part of the Kuala Lumpur City Centre Development Park.
Opening time: The Skybridge is open to the public Tuesday to Sunday 8.30am to 5pm
I know this is a very bad picture, but unfortunately it is the only one I have!
