Penang is one of the great cultural melting pots of Southeast Asia, with a large Chinese population and some Burmese, Thai, Armenian, Indian and Indonesian communities. The island has much to offer, there is Georgetown, a bustling culinary and cultural mecca, Batu Ferringhi, a long beach with the usual tourist hotels and resort, Kek Lok Si, the largest buddhist temple in Malaysia and much more.
We have been to Penang twice and were lucky to get to know both sides of Penang, the relaxing beach life as well as the interesting cultural aspects of Georgetown. It's a wonderful place and a must visit if you travel in Malaysia. |
