Something Old, Something New

Bangkok skyline from the top
Bangkok welcomes us on a rain-rinsed late evening, but offers clear, sunny skies for much of our stay. It has been four years since my last visit and I could not contain my excitement over trying out new things and catching up on "items" I failed to do last time.
Taking in Suvarnabhumi's modern feel
First to greet us in the new Suvarnabhumi airport whose sheer size and structure is something to rave about. Glass and steel combine to give a modern feel while wonderful cultural pieces dot its spacious halls. There are plenty of shops and restaurants already, but everything is pretty much a work in progress.
I do have a lot of catching up to do. Last time I was here, most temples were closed due to Pres. Bush's state visit and the APEC Summit which happened all in the same week. Another thing I missed is the Chatuchak Weekend Market. I certainly will not skip that "weekend" detail again.

I only have warm memories of my stay in Bangkok. For the kind smiles of people I met, the majestic temples I visited and the bustle of its street markets, Bangkok is definitely a repeat-worthy experience (definitely, because I also missed Ayutthaya this time!). As I mull over this great experience, I cannot help but repeat to myself a word that has become close to my heart -- Sawasdee Ka...

Pros:"pleasant people, good food, great temples"
Cons:"scorching heat, some shrewd tuktuk and cab drivers"
