Irish Pub at Thamel: Good Guitar & Rock singer

Myself and Basu went for live Rock music at Irish Pub and also had a drink. They have happy hours 5.00Pm to 8.00PM when they offer one plus one. But the price is bit expensive but at the same time a live local band is also playing. The singer and the guitarist are really good, one has to appreciate them and their singing ability. Copying Western Rock singers by local Nepali youth is surely not an easy job. Since, I too am a rock fan and had the opportunity to hear many good bands in India , I can surely say they are simply good. You can spend a couple of hours at Irish pub if you like live rock band but I suggest that you sit outside the hall in the terrace as the hall is too noisy for your ear drums.

Everywhere!!!: Dancing Bars of Kathmandu!!

I was a bit surprised to see that everywhere in Kathmandu there is a Dancing Bar of Bangkok style and most of them are located in Thamel area! It starts with just music in the evening as the night progresses it turns into a Striptease joint!! Just next to my Hotel in Thamel, The Great Wall, there is a dancing bar, who blares music at full volume and let me tell you it is very difficult to sleep with the blaring music. I thought of changing the hotel, even talked to the manager, he said that law and order in Kathmandu has deteriorated in the last ten years. All the wrong people go there, mostly Nepalese youth. But where do they get all that money??
To find out what is going on I just peeped into the joint for a second and I was almost dragged in to sit beside an ugly looking woman( certainly a hooker!). The second incident, while having dinner with our VT friend Urvashi & her husband Dibya Rana at China Town, I went to the rest room for a while, there I was approached two well dressed boy and girl saying" hey friend(?) I will give you free pass if you join us for dancing in next door night club! Well Kathmandu surely has progressed!!!

Dress Code: Sorry again I have no photographs as I did not visit any of these!! I just discovered that I have taken a photograph of this dancing joint somewhere in Kathmandu ( not Thamel). I regret for not taking a photo of Thamel Bars. In thamel area there are many Dancing Bars!

Casinos at Five Star Hotels.: Kathmandu's Night Life!!

In general there is a lack of spots where you can genuinely say a Night Spot. In the eighties the King allowed opening of Casinos at Kathmandu's Five Star hotels. This was done to earn foreign currency and to improve Nepalese economy. Nepalese citizens are not allowed to enter into a Casino as there is a chance to loose the hard earned income out there. that will a blow to local economy. Where as the tourist come and play with a fixed budget, there is no chance to loose everything on bet as you will not be allowed to play more than the limit.
Its a favourite joint for the tourist from India and other places of the world!
