Azad Hind Dhaba.
While driving to Digha we had Lunch at this great place called Azad Hind Dhaba. Dhaba means eating place. In olden days Dhaba used to cater to the Truckers only and the food was Typically Punjabi style like Roti, Tadka( lentils) & Chicken. In the Last about 30 years Indian roads have developed a lot and now they are almost at Par with their Asian counter parts. So many people travel, many new cars have also come and eating out has become a fashion. The ordinary food for the Truckers have become food for the Gods. Now everybody, even the very rich in India wants to try these simple dishes sitting at Dhaba. The sitting style is simple on Charpoy, but the modern Dhabas use table, chairs and some of them even have Air- Conditioning facility. Since the development of Indian roads from BJP regime ( 1999), Indian Petrol Pumps and Roads have gone into a sea of changes. Almost all oil companies have come up with Petrol pumps of International style with all amenities, such as, Restaurant ( Dhaba), Grocery, medicine, Toilet, STD/ISD, Playing area for children etc. Bharat Petroleum ( earlier Burmah Shell) has also come up with Chain of such pumps with all amenities, such as Dhaba .................... contd------2.
Favorite Dish: Azad Hind Dhaba serves mostly Indian dishes. They are all very tasty, believe me they will even suit the European palate as they do not put much oil or chilli in the food. Their cooks are trained and throughly professional. They will serve exacly what you want.
we had Masala Kulcha( stuffed with vegetables, cottage cheese & chicken shreads), Chicken Tadka ( Lentils with Chicken), Mix Vegtables, Palak Paneer( Spinach with cottage cheese). All these dishes are excellent and even the children enjoyed a lot. They also have a Menu and the cover design is made by the Great Painter Maqbool Fida Hussein ( M.F. Hussein). No drinks are allowed here a sthe families eat here. The other side is for the Truckers. Sometimes even the RICH & FAMOUS eat here incognito. To experience their food many people drive 45kms from Kolkata. This place is worth trying.

Biryani House.
We had all meals at hotel only. But Digha has many restaurants. While coming back we thought we shall have Biryani ( Mutton or Chicken), at Biryani house. The food is just average and not at anything near to Quality what is available at Kolkata. But this place is worth trying while in Digha, only for Indian Mughlai Food.
Favorite Dish: Mutton Biryani & Chicken Chapp. Spiced rice cooked with marinated Mutton Chunks in a perticular style of Mughals of India in slow fire to obtain a tasty delight called Biryani. I shall explain it later after obtaining it's recipe from my wife.
