The belly button of Italy

Medieval gem

The medieval city walls.
Rieti is really a small jewel of a city. Located in a bowl-shaped valley on the left bank of the Velino river, it was built by the Romans in what used to be swampland before Italy's tallest waterfall (Marmore) was created.
Strolling on foot through the quiet streets of Rieti is a pleasure, especially in warm springtime evenings.
Rieti is down there behind my car.

The gateway to Rome's mountain

Rieti is mostly known as the gateway to Terminillo, or Rome's mountain as it's normally referred to. Just over an hour's drive north of the capital, it's an excellent retreat from the chaos of the capital in the summer, as well as one of central Italy's best equipped ski resorts in the winter.

Ah Reiti!! Famous for gliding I hear. Nice little page you have here and great tips. White pasta - I wonder what that is. Would love to see the monasteries. Thanks!!

Haha, very nice page. I am impressed. Italy has thousands little jewels. I was lucky to see quite many of them but... still thousands to see.
