The George, Castleton, Derbyshire - Castleton

The George, Castleton, Derbyshire

The George, Castleton , Derbyshire.: English pub - with food and accomodation.

One of those all too rare warm sunny evenings, and I'd finished work early- so drove out to Castleton. After a bit of exploring, I ended up at this hostelery.
Tempted by outside seating, I ordered a fruit juice and bag of nuts, and settled down at one of the vacant benches.

Outside, the hanging basket flower displays was quite impressive.
Inside, the pub is traditional decor . The building dates back to 1543, becoming a licensed inn in 1743.

Oak Beams, Stone floors, brass fittings- oh and reported to have at least 4 ghosts!
If these aren't your kind of spirits, The George offers 44 different single malt whiskeys!, plus hand pulled cask ales, and a wide selection of wines, other spirits and soft drinks.
