"Grassington" Grassington by suvanki

During my teens and early twenties I'd visited Grassington a few times - our family holidays were often spent camping in the Yorkshire Dales.
I had fond memories of this town, and was pleased to get the chance for a re-visit during our Ooop North VT camping weekend. It was a short drive away from Appletreewick where we were camping.
- The end of June, and we were experiencing heavy rains, so the decision was made to head here, where the annual Grassington Festival was reaching its final day.
Parking up, we could hear a regular drum beat from nearby. We soon found out that Billy Ocean was due to close the Festival that evening with a concert in a marque Click Here for more info - Myfanwe was a fan, and was soon reminding us of his past hits Click here to be reminded/enlightened - later we would catch another sound check, possibly from the man himself.
Anyway, we paid a visit to the Tourist Info office, which was next to the car park - well worth popping into, then ventured into the main square of Grassington-window shopping, and admiring some of the 'Art Trail' exhibits. Hunger had got the better of us, so we headed to a local pub-which had finished serving. Back over the slippery cobbled street to a cafe, where we were fed and watered.
We had to keep an eye on the clock as we didn't want to go over our parking time.
So back to our cars, with time to listen to Billy? doing his sound check, before heading back to our campsite, with an unexpected detour- OK I missed the turning, but it was worth it to see !Linton
and Burnsall - and it wasn't raining!
