My visit to San Giorgio Maggiore Christmas Day 2008, I visited this small island for the first time.
The Island and its landmark church had featured as a backdrop to the many photographs that I've taken from the waterfronts of San Marco and Castello over the years, (I'd taken many photos in the early hours of this morning, after attending Christmas Eve Midnight Mass in Basillica San Marco) but I'd never had the time to visit.
My main reason for taking the short trip was to enjoy the views from the top of the churches campanile (bell tower).
The fog that I had arrived to, a couple of days ago had finally lifted, being replaced by a sunny clear blue sky - Hoorah! |

A luxurious hotel and a YHA is the same sentance, can't be bad. :) |
