| | Nemrut Dag I'd initially set out to see Nemrut Dag in 1991- I was in Goreme, Capadoccia, and had signed up for an 'unofficial' trip for 4 people in a car, planned by a local hotelier. However, I turned up at the appointed time to find out that the other party had dropped out :-(
So 2 years later, I was in Sanliurfa, and had the chance to join a small party travelling by mini bus to Nemrut Dag- Luckily the trip went ahead.
Myself, an English journalist, an American/ Australian couple and a German couple (Who'd visited Nemrut a few days previously, and had joined the trip again, with the intention of dropping out part way to study flowers) piled into the mini bus for our trip to Nemrut Dag.
We set off mid morning, so we'd missed the sunrise option- I was anticipating a sunset view, but my fellow companians declared this to be 'too touristy' and so as I was out numbered, I decided to 'go with the flow'.
As it turned out, although we weren't there at sunset, a storm had errupted, whilst we were on the mount, and while we made a hasty descent- I snapped a few pics of the darkening sky. When I got home and my pics were developed , I was pleasantly surprised to find that I had captured a couple of sunset shots! |
