Restaurant Name: Coconut Grove

There are many similar eateries to this on the beachfront in Kovalam, but I quite enjoyed eating here.

I had some excellent meals, especially the tiger prawn dishes, the prawns were huge!

Open for breakfast thro til night time, for drinks/ snacks/ meals- as little or as much as you can eat!

A nice relaxed atmosphere, traditional music playing in the background (cd's for sale). The waiters are all friendly and polite.
Sitting at your table facing the sea, feet in the sand, Kingfisher beer wrapped in newspaper, chatting to your neighbours,planning your next days (in) activities-BLISS!

You can see your food being cooked, as the chefs work very hard, at the rear of the restaurant.

A good spot for people watching, as holidaymakers, locals and vendors all pass by,( though in the daytime, if you're a new arrival you can be a sitting target for the hawkers. Tip- sunglasses, hat pulled over your eyes, and a good book can sometimes help deter the less determined salesmen!)

A good spot for watching the fishermen hauling in their catch too!

Can get busy mid - late evenings. Pre book or get there early!

Favorite Dish: Tiger prawns..huge!!
Sizzling plates a speciality!
Display of freshly caught fish near entrance, plus inside 'pool' with live fish. just chose what you fancy, and ask the price.

ginger tea was good too...

I ate here most nights and some days and was never disappointed..

Very popular place. Attractive decor, furnishings, fittings etc.

Good choice of menu

Probably a good idea to book.

I was waiting to meet friends, arrived early, Chose a table,ordered a drink. Was asked to move as a group had come in, so moved to bar, then was asked if I'd sit at a nearby table (man was sat there already) I moved again to sit at this table..The man was quite aggresive, demanding to know why I'd allowed myself to be moved, and made it quite clear I wasn't welcome at his table!! The waiters hurredly moved me to another table,and apologised profusely (this man was well known to be a problem!) After yet another table move, I spotted my friends, Who'd been waiting for me for an hour! We'd all explained we were waiting for each other and described each other to the waiters, so we could be seated together..Ah Well!! The Meal was good!

Favorite Dish: Had a chicken/ginger dish, which was very good, a couple of cocktails too and Ice cream.

Couldn't fault the food or the staff, the earlier musical chairs chirade was soon forgotten, (for the time being!)

Popular restaurant, probably best to book.

Open all day, The smell of cinnamon and baking greets you!

Good for breakfast/elevenses/lunch or evening meal.

Coffee and pastries (good selection)

Extensive menu
Friendly service
Good cocktails

Up a couple of flights of steps, so not good for those with walking/breathing problems.

Favorite Dish: 3 of us ate here, our last meal of our holiday. We all enjoyed our starters, main course and dessert..oh and a few cocktails!

I had a chicken and ginger dish, generous portion! Ice cream for afters, can't remember which starter I had :-(
