If you want to see the Eiffel Tower (and who doesn't?) you should first go to the Trocadero. From that point you can see the Eiffel Tower at its best.

La Defense is the Business District of Paris. You will find there the Grande Arche and many modern architecture. At night it is quite deserted. There seems to be a large shopping center too.

On the first sunday of the month the Louvre can be visited freely. Be sure to come EARLY, otherwise you have to stand in an endless queue. However there are very nice shops (nature et decouverte, occitane etc.) that are even open on sundays, so you can one be one take a look in the shops while the other one will wait in the queue. The Louvre is enormous and you can hardly see everything. It is a wise thing to select the things you are most keen to see in advance. Ann and I selected the following: - Napoleons rooms (amazing) - Crown jewels ( wow) - Mona Lisa (didn't like that, long queue) - Venus of Milo (beautiful) - Egyption art (sarcofagues and things) At the end of the day we found out that we had seen everything, quite an accomplishment. Art overload! The food in the restaurant in the Louvre is good and not too expensive. We both took a large plate with salad for 8 euros that you could compose yourself: prawns, feta cheese, cold turkey etc: mmmm!

The Arc was not so nice as I expected it to be. It is nicer from a distance. The three arcs (Grande Arche, Arc de Triomphe and the little Arc at the Louvre) all lie in one line.

The first thing you should do when it is your first time in Paris is go up the Eiffel Tower. Afterwards you will much better be able to orientate yourself. I heard a lot about the terrible queues before the Eiffel Tower, but we only had to wait for a few minutes. However on the second floor we had to wait quite long to enter the lift that took us to the top floor. On the second floor it was freezingly cold: don't forget to take a jacket or something. At the top floor you can stay insides, but you can also go outside: amazing. Sometimes I've got fear for heights, but standing on top of the Eiffel Tower wasn't scary at all. The entrance to go to the top floor is expensive (10,40 euros), but it is really worth it. Everywhere on the Eiffel Tower are warnings that you should watch your belongings, because of the pickpockets. Like everywhere else in Paris you have to watch your belongings carefully, but you soon get used to that.

I expected the Sacre Coeur to be beautiful, but I never expected that it would steal me heart like this. I couldn't and wouldn't walk away from it. From a distance it is even more beautiful. Be extremely careful for the numerous pickpockets, the place du terte and la bute Montmatre are notorious for pickpockets.

The fountains near Centre Pompidou are worth a visit. They spin around and spout water. Actually the fountains are more impressing than the Centre Pompidou itself.

I thought the Centre Pompidou was a bit disappointing. Since I like modern architecture a lot I thought I would like it better. However the fountains near the Centre are amazing and worth a visit
