  • The Natural history musuem is located in South Kensington, if you visit in the morning it is possible to combine the trip with the Science Museum.

There is no entry fee, but if you would like to see any of the exibitions then they charge for them.

Its a fab hand on musuem, with a brilliant Dinosaur section and a really interesting Human Biology section.

The museum is split into life and earth galleries, and also the darwin centre.

The building itself is also very impressive, with beautiful gardens and a magnificent staircase.......when my piccies are developed I will post them on this page......its a beautiful building.

    London Eye: The Eye
  • Tip Rating:
  • London London Eye
  • View of "The Eye" from Westminster
  • by kentishgirl

  • The BA London Eye is located on the southbank, across the Thames stands the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben, the MOD and Foreign Office.

The day that we visited (on a bank holiday weekend), we did not need to buy a ticket in advance! We went into County Hall and purchased our tickets (£11.50pp) and then boarded our capsule straight away.

The views are very special, you just wouldnt see views like this anywhere else in London. In just one view you can pick out Buckingham Palace and Battersea Power Station.

I hate heights but the 30min ride on this was fine, the wheel rotates so slowly, the only time I felt nervous was when I stood directly above the water!!!

The wheel is 135 metres high and on a clear day they say that you will have a 25 mile panoramic view of London! It was really rainy when we visited but we could still easily spot out all of the major landmarks.

  • As you can see I look a bit freaked in this piccie!!!! Lol,
seriously, this was a real achievement for me to be able to just walk on and stay calm being this high!! Things can only get better!

The views behind us were still really great bearing in mind that it was typical English Bank Holiday weather!

  • County Hall was originally the home of the London Government, it is now used as a tourist complex, it houses the London Aquarium, Saatchi Gallery, Dali Universe, amusement arcades, booking and info for the London Eye, a couple of hotels and a McDonalds (sigh).

    Westminster Abbey: Westminster Abbey
  • Tip Rating:
  • Almost every Monarch was crowned in Westminster Abbey and the weddings and coronations are all held here.
The building dates back to the thirteenth century and the detail of the building is amazing.

The current charge per adult is £7.50 into the Abbey.

Things To Do: ST.Margarets Church@Westminster Abbey
  • Tip Rating:
  • St.Margarets Church is located in the grounds of Westminster Abbey, it is a cute little church and there is no fee to go inside!

The Church is nestled between the Abbey and the Houses of Parliament, and is the parish church of the house of commons.

Palace of Westminster - Houses of Parliament: Houses Of Parliament
  • Tip Rating:
  • London Palace of Westminster - Houses of Parliament
  • Outside the parliament buildings
  • by kentishgirl

  • The House of Parliament otherwise known as the palace of westminster, is an amazing Gothic structure that in my opinion no pic will ever do justice to.

When I was at school (oh so many years ago!), we had a daytrip here and went inside, a lot of the interior is actually pure gold-very beautiful.
When I sat down on one of the benches cos my feet hurt I was told off (come on I was only about 13 at the time!), I was told this is not your house to take a seat and not my house to offer you one, so stand up!!! LOL.......thinking now it just cracks me up!

You can go and see the house in action but I believe that you must apply through either your embassy or local MP.

    Things To Do: Big Ben
  • Tip Rating:
  • The name Big Ben is first of all the name of the bell inside the clock tower.

Everyone sets their watches correctly when they visit!! Its just something that you automatically do!!lol

When parliament is in session a bright light shines above the clock face.

Unfortunatley the tower isnt open to the public so you just have to make do with staring up at it!!
