We booked our whole Wadi Rum experience through www.bedouintales.com.
The reason for this is beacause we wanted to spend 2 days and a night out there. There arent any hotels or hostels as such, so most people book through a company.
I learnt of Bedouin Tales through Lonely Planets Thorn Tree, a lady on there had travelled into Wadi Rum with them many times, when I was there and mentioned her name they remembered her well!
Unique Qualities:
So, we made our own way to Wadi Rum and out again, our price included a full fay Jeep Safari, a full day camel Safari, Lunch, Breakfast, Dinner and a night in the Bedouin Tent.
I must say, when we got there I was suprised to see that this place had a feeling like it had been set up just for the tourists that they get? Im not sure, One of the guys who worked for the company lived in Rum Village, the others claimed that they were Bedouin and lived in the tent....I guess we will never know!
Facilities wise...you are in the desert....dont expect a shower....most of the day toilets will be little areas of sand in the desert.....when we got to camp they had a portaloo kind of thing.
One things for sure though, it was a totally amazing experience.....Bedouin Tents are made of goats hair, and in the very cold desert night air they are very warm indeed. I would reccommend spending the night out here to anyone, this is one of the highlights of my entire trip, its so dark out there, theres no noise and there are so many stars....I never realised that the world could be so quiet before I came here.....its a must see...
