"Sands and Spices" Zanzibar Island by kentishgirl

Zanzibar Island Travel Guide: 415 reviews and 947 photos

We spent a few nights in Stonetown when we first arrived. After exploring some of Stonetown's delights we headed north to the beach of Kendwa - a small, quiet place to relax - white sandy beaches and palms swaying in the breeze.

Zanzibar could be described as paradise. However, one persons paradise isnt always another persons paradise as I discovered when I saw the poverty behind the holiday island of Zanzibar.

Zanzibar Island.........Ahhhh it has such a beautiful ring to it doesnt it. I was really looking forward to visiting Zanizabar, it was at the time one of the many places on my "to see" list.

It didd'nt dissapoint either. Zanizbar Island is unlike anywhere else on earth, this island off of the coast of Tanzania in the Indian Ocean strives to be independant - in my opinion it already is - its unique in the way it blends Middle Eastern cultures and African cultures together.

I would definatly go back!
