I call Amman the split city, because its sections couldnt be more different! Downtown is small and bustling - it has a traditional feel about it. Other areas spreading north around the many roundabouts that Amman has (??!!) is modern and clean - its easy to tell that this is where the cities wealth is.......downtown is like its been like that for years.
Unfortunatley when I was in Amman I was quite sick, and so diddnt get out and see a lot, I wandered in Downtown for a few days, and then spent an afternoon in the modern part of the city.
Other than that, Amman was used by me as a stopping point on the way south, and a great place to visit the Dead Sea from.
