My first contact with Latvia

The first town I visited in Latvia was Liepaja... I arrived there at noon by bus and had to walk along the old streets (often full of sand) with old wooden houses on both the sides, the slow trams, time seemed to have stopped here many years ago. Then "concrete" buildings and high chimneys remember me that communism has been here, and then the town centre, small but full of people rushing in and out the picturesque market.

I spent just few hours in Liepaja, and found no monuments or particular things to see, but probably I saw a "real" Latvian town, far from the richness of Riga, still trying to "move in time", from middle ages, to the soviet era and now, finally, to EU times!

I shall go there tomorrow! Unfortunately, you have no accomodation tip! Hope I will find some place without having a guide book about Latvia. Inyourpocket is not very helpful on Liepaja in this respect either.
