Pronounced Wa-ha-ka, this is one of the most Spanish of Mexican sities with houses having large windows and inner courtyards. With its situation on a relative higher ground, it is cooler than many cities in Mexico. A walk around the city will bring you to many markets offering yu an opportunity to sample some local specialities, the most famous being the Mezcal (tequilla with the worm!!!).
