"STONEHENGE" Stonehenge by andrewyong

Like many, I have always been fascinated by the rocks of Stonehenge. And finally being able to see it for myself, I was very excited. I expected a grander setting for the megaliths but now they are right by the roadside, though within a fenced area and the stones themselves are cordoned off to prevent more dmage being done to them after the "vandalism" by so called Druids followers, new-thinkers and travellers in the 19th c.

The reasons of why the stones are placed there are as yet unknown though there are many speculations... from being a prehistoric sacrificial temple to being set there by aliens! One can certainly imagine that they provide some ceremonial focus for a civilisation's rite of passage and social cohesion with the way they are placed so carefully in quite a symetrical position.
