A Coastal Delight

Qingdao is a bit of a surprise.
One expects a quaint German town on the beach, and what you get is this multi-million metropolis. Yes, with German overtunes, but also with a definite Chinese hinterland and a glitzy strip of skyscrapers, reminicent of something out of the America(s) - Puerto Rico, maybe? Lucklily, the sea front remains an attraction for just about all stakeholders in this city's development; it's both the reward and the reason for much of Qingdao's existence. Let it remain so!

According to LP (2007 edition) there is a daily sailing to Dalian at 0930. There are also sailings to Dalian from Yantai

Qingdao is a beautiful city, and I like it too. Shangri-La hotel and Seaview garden hotel are the best 2 hotels in Qingdao. You can also find some delicious local dises in the small restaurants.
