Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Teva sandals saved my life. They're not as conspicuous as sneakers, and they go with almost anything. This was the best I could do, as French women seem to wear real shoes (as opposed to the flip flops of obvious American tourists).
Bring a compact umbrella and take it everywhere you go. Vendors seem to increase the price of umbrellas when it rains.
Toiletries & Medical Supplies: Make sure you bring band-aids and protective ointment for your skin.
Miscellaneous: It's true. The French dress up a litte more than Americans. Jeans, shorts, and t-shirts are comfortable, but you'll feel out of place. French women wear nice slacks, skirts, and dresses. Individual style is a must! If you wear a t-shirt, dress it with a pearls or a scarf.
There are GAP stores everywhere if you're in a bind.
