Cusco is a tourist center - not without reason. I believe the main reason so many people flock to this city is because of its location - it is the city from which organized tours of Machu Picchu depart. Since my fiance and I would be doing the 4-day hike up the Inca trail to MP, we knew before leaving for Peru that it was required to stay 3 days in Cusco to aclimitize. We very much enjoyed our stay here - lots to do and see, a good place to begin our Peruvian stay.
