Chasing the Guinness Truck Down to basics. Sure, I enjoy a Guinness at home, but FRESH is where it's at. After watching these gentlemen deliver several kegs to a watering hole, I made a mental note to return later that evening to sample FRESH!!
So, there was an open stage at the establishment, called Bruxelles, and I and the many gathered enjoyed the offerings of the many skilled and well-practiced locals and even a few of not so practiced and definatly not local set. WOW!! An eye -opener. if you visit Dublin, you must attend. O.K.??? |
| | Always look at the world through the eyes of youth Being with my kids and watching them grow has taught me much about the world, and our place in it.
The wonders of discovery from a youthful perspective can readily diminish the negative aspects of "adult" life. The daily grind of being a subscriber to the pursuit of the "good life" that North Americans seem to obsess over can be easily rationalized and made insignificant, simply by looking into the eyes of an inquisitive child. |
To get away, or to come back... Home can be one of the best places, or at times, somewhere to run like hell from.
Comfort can be found in some of the strangest places. | | | Put in a plug for animals |

| | One of my favourite recent photos I balanced my camera on the handrail for a 2 second exposure while trucks rumbled by, shaking the bridge deck and threatening me with a messy, blurred image.
To my surprise, it worked out.
Koln, Germany, April 2004, and there are more photos on my cologne page of this spectacular city. |
The transience of things I have a fascination for the passage of time, and the things that mark it's passage. Something becomes screamingly evident in these observations:
We are not permanent. Nothing is.
The "great outdoors" will eventually meet the "great indoors", given some time, moisture, ice, and a touch of wind.
The fleeting moments that make travel so precious come from chance meetings, spontaneous humour, and sheer bloody terror.
My earliest travels were with my family, by car. Always crowded by two mean sisters and mountains of kid-stuff, I longed for a time when i could set my own agenda and do things my way.
My favourite means of travel is alone, with one bag to carry. I am a minimalist by nature, and enjoy the simpler pleasures...good company when it suits me, and solitude when the opportunites present themselves. People are fascinating, but so are all of the things that make this world, and travelling through it, so awe-inspiring.
| | This photo was taken in February of 1986, during a 12 day visit to Rio De Janiero and vicinity. Thanks to VT's Donrafa, I now have a serious itch to return there. |
The things that I love Light, shade, shadows, doorways, hardware, works by the hand of man. I deeply love my family. I think that every woman is a goddess. I believe that truth is paramount. People can be a pain in the keyster sometimes, but face it, we need each other. Travel reinforces the good that people can demonstrate, without hardly even trying.

| | Live Music A funny thing about the word 'live". Pronounced in two different manners depending on context, has two meanings which are related. For example: Live music can be heard anywhere where people live |
